Due to the partnerships with the local Chief, JTCF will be renovating 3 houses that the community leaders have donated to our organization, and building 7 other houses from the ground up to total 10 houses.  The estimated cost of renovating one house is $5,000 and the estimated cost of building one efficient house with electricity and running water is $16,000.  To build 7 houses and renovate 3, the overall associated housing costs are $127,000.  By providing a monthly stipend for each home based on the cost of living plus 100% ($600/house x 12 months x 10 homes), this removes the burden of living expenses for the parents and allows them the time to nurture the children and volunteer in the understaffed school and clinic.  Considering travel and a minimal stipend for staff ($2,500 travel x 2 full-time staff x 4 trips/year + $22,500/year x 2 full-time staff), the overall cost to establish and anchor houses is $334,000.  Because houses would not be built annually, the ongoing cost would be considerably lower the years following the building of the initial 10 houses.

At this time, the primary function of the staff and board of directors is to seek funding from private and public sponsors for the anchor houses.  With the goal being to complete renovations of the first 3 houses, JTCF us seeking $15,000 in funding for this.  The primary relationships needed to facilitate building the houses, and selecting children and guardians, have already been established within our target town.
